Why did you buy the SMART Temps program?
Our District has been using the SMART Temps Temperature Management System since May of 2010. At that time we already had a temperature monitoring system in place for our equipment, so we only purchased the SMART Shields and SMART Links for HACCP compliance at our 17 schools.
How has it helped you with compliance issues?
We have documentation to prove whether or not our sites are following correct HACCP procedures. The back of the house software is also easy to learn and use.
What part of the program has been most valuable to you?
Implementation was easier than expected. A SMART Temps Representative provided training at one of our Site Manager meetings and the managers were able to go back to their schools and begin temping their food with little or no additional training. We also have found SMART Temps customer service to be excellent. Our local rep responds to our calls quickly and is available to visit our schools to troubleshoot any problems that might arise.
How has SMART Temps saved you time, money, and improved product safety?
Our kitchen manager’s love not having to fill out paper HACCP logs and it has relieved our office staff from filing all of the paperwork. An added benefit is that we can monitor the food temperatures taken at each site from the District Office. Adding last minute menu items can be done at the school or District Office level.
